A client brought in this print of an old Russian Orthodox Icon that he received from a family member. He was advised to go to a local custom picture framer and make sure that they put Museum Glass on it. So, after mounting it on Acid Free Preserve Ultra, to make sure it stays nice and flat (and it's reversible), we framed it in this gorgeous traditional brown, black, and gold wood frame that has an inside double lip also in gold. It turned out beautifully and the client was very happy when he came to pick it up!!!

Did you know that May 13th is International Cocktail Day? How about some cocktail art? Do you have a family room or party room with a full bar? Here is a set we did for a customer featuring Martini, Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Negroni, and New York Sour. Art prints in a traditional black frame under regular glass and mounted in the vacuum heat press to lay nice and flat.

 

Today is National Superhero Day so here are some fun pieces we've framed over the years, even actual comic books!

 

Huge oversize map of Willamette Valley, Oregon (Wine Country) that features the local vineyards. This was mounted on to foamboard and put into a traditional black frame under Regular Clear Plexiglass.

Remembering a great trip with items you brought back to be framed. Three pieces put into the same frame. We put a medium brown mat board behind each one so there would be color showing through the openings in the three dimensional art. Then we floated all three on top of a black mat board and used spacers to lift the Museum glass off of the art pieces. It is all framed in a traditional rustic scoop frame with black on the inside portion and a light brown outside edge.

 

This canvas print of the Taylor Swift "Eras" tour poster is mounted onto foamcore and put into a traditional white frame with no glass because it's printed on to canvas. Makes for a very safe and lightweight poster size art.

 

This little painting on canvas was mounted onto acid free foamcore using Preserve Ultra which is reversable and does not harm the canvas. Then it was framed in a traditional wood frame with a round gold fillet just inside the edge and without any glass. It looks so good!

 

Have you got a concert poster needing to be framed? Check out one we recently finished of Trey Anastasio Band from September 25, 2022 at McMenamins Edgefield here in Troutdale, Oregon. We dry mounted this to a foamcore board in the vacuum heat press. It is framed in a traditional one inch black frame under regular glass.

 

Do you love "Fan Art"? Are maps your passion? Here is a "Fan Art" Map of Roshar from The Stormlight Archives book series by Brandon Sanderson. This really cool map of the fictional land of Roshar is made with metallic inks so there is a light sheen to the entire thing. This was framed without a mat in a traditional shaped frame with a contemporary metallic finish that appears distressed or acid washed in a copper tone using Conservation Clear glass with 99% UV protection.

 

Are you a boat person? Check out these two different boat paintings by the same artist that were brought in 18 months apart by two different customers! The first one is a stretched canvas in a traditional dark brown frame with a double gold lip. The second one is a canvas heat mounted on to acid free foamcore with a double mat under museum glass in a unique brown burl textured frame. Which one is your favorite?

 

Do you collect things when you travel as keepsakes? One of our long time clients brings us menus from restaurants they've gone to on their travels. It's an inexpensive keepsake for you to enjoy! This menu has an acid-free backing and Museum Glass with 99% UV protection in a small dark brown traditional scoop frame.

 

This beautiful original pastel drawing of Multnomah Falls required a reverse bevel cut on the double mat. Framed in a traditional two tone wood frame featuring a deep purple with a tan outer lip underneath Conservation Clear glass with 99% UV protection. Such beautiful fall colors in this original drawing by a local artist.

 

Do you love gnomes? Here's some "Watermelon gnomes" for you!! This adorable cross stitch on white linen is a great example of some bright colors, but as you can see we did a triple mat with a matching white on top. When we matched the correct pink and green mats all you saw was the matting, but adding a third mat to soften the colors brings your eye back to the focal point...the gnomes! We hand stretched the fabric on to acid-free foamcore board and put regular glass in a traditional thin white frame.

 

The latest craft trend is Diamond Painting where you "paint" by number with rhinestones and beads to have a more three dimensional feel to your art. This religious art has two rows of beads along the outside edge just inside the double mat and larger beads accenting the halo and clothing. We mounted the canvas to foamcore board in the heat press and then used regular glass in a traditional dark brown frame with a gold lip. The second photo is from our client after they got it home.
