Today is National Superhero Day so here are some fun pieces we've framed over the years, even actual comic books!

 

In honor of #RSD2024 (Record Store Day 04.20.24) here are some music themed items and art we have framed over the years. From The Police to U2 to Taylor Swift and Marilyn Manson, we'll be happy to help you design your items or make into a shadowbox with CDs and tickets.

 

This shadowbox contains the original brass whistle, billy club, and regulation book from a family member's time on the Portland, Maine police force. A reprinted photograph and a new printed plaque complete the design for future generations.

 

Just in time to hang in his dorm room!! This Portland Winterhawks hockey player's jersey and medal were hand sewn down to a black mat board and shadow boxed with red inside the sides of the contemporary black frame all under Museum glass with 99% UV protection and reflection control that makes it look like there is no glass!!

 

Are you a sports nut? Check out this autographed basketball jersey of Shaquille O'Neal. We hand sewed it down to a black mat and then lifted a double mat of the purple and gold to match. Framed in a contemporary black frame under Conservation Clear glass that is 99% UV protected to help keep the autograph from fading.

 

Meet Trubel (pronounced like trouble)...a custom portrait, dog collar with tags, paw and nose prints on paper, cast of pawprint, some snips of fur in an acrylic box, and his favorite rocks.

The dog collar is hand sewn through the layers of a double mat with three openings, while the plaster cast of the pawprint is glued on to the top of the matting.

Both of the rocks and the acrylic box holding snips of Trubel's fur are adhered to the inside base of the frame. All of this is behind the magnificence of Museum Glass with 99% UV protection and the special anti-reflection coating that makes it look like there isn't any glass!

This collection of patches, lapel pins, and challenge coins was designed as a gift for a U.S. Air Force retiree. All were mounted with a removable acid free plaque tape on to a charcoal gray mat board and framed in a textured camouflage black frame with spacers to lift the museum glass away from the items as a shallow shadowbox.

 

Two hand painted fans that are hand sewn to a blue matboard backing under museum glass, shadowboxed into a bamboo shaped frame.

 

This shadowbox containing Boy Scouts of America patches and kerchiefs was created using magnets to hold the rolled kerchiefs in place. This is framed using a 1" wide black shadowbox that was 2" deep with a gray backing matboard plus red matboard spacers on the sides for a little pop of color and to hold the glass from squishing the kerchiefs. The patches were all hand sewn through the backing matboard.

 

A collectible issue of Sports Illustrated magazine featuring Oregon State University's Gary Payton from March 5, 1990. The entire magazine issue is held in an acid free box and matted with a double mat where the top mat looks like the surface of a basketball. It's all in a classic multi-ridged black frame under conservation clear glass which has 99% UV protection.

Full disclosure: This frame is NOT available through Hangin'. We did a repair/upgrade for our customer. We replaced the plexi with museum glass in the three sections as well as upgraded the fabric and remounted the medals on each side.
